Ah, those lazy, hazy, crazy days of summer. The two-month break from school. The parents nagging you to go outside and play, when you'd rather sit inside and play video games (and hey, that sun can burn, man!). The overcrowded local pool.

In spite of the ongoing franchise's title, middle schooler Greg (Zachary Gordon) is slowly outgrowing his status as a "wimpy kid." His Kafka-esque, put-upon existence in the first film gave way to a sequel that saw him battling his cruel older brother...
One Guy's Opinion
Another year, another installment of the “Wimpy Kid” franchise, which began in 2010 with “Diary of a Wimpy Kid,” continued in 2011 with “Roderick Rules” and now reaches “Dog Days,” which unfortunately proves an apt subtitle.
Reel Film Reviews
An obvious improvement over 2010's subpar Diary of a Wimpy Kid, Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Dog Days follows Zachary Gordon's Greg Heffley as he gets into a variety of off-the-wall situations over the course of one very long summer.

The fanboys have to face facts: the trilogy of summer movies about their favorite hero has come to its end. No, not Batman—I speak, of course, of Greg Heffley, the middle-school protagonist of the Diary of a Wimpy Kid series. Like The Dark Knight Rises, D

Why are the "Diary of a Wimpy Kid" movies so much less fun, and funny, than the best of the books created by Jeff Kinney?
New York Post
Hollywood’s dog days have indeed arrived with this sloppy third helping of the family-friendly series derived from Jeff Kinney’s graphic novels, which has racked up $147 million in worldwide ticket sales for the first two films against a reported...

Some dads play sports with their kids. I watch movies with mine. While the cliche is all about playing catch with your pop in the back yard, my bonding moments come when my kids and I find a movie we can enjoy together.

There’s a reason I’ve continued to cover the “Diary of a Wimpy Kid” film franchise since the first installment hit back in 2010; they’re particularly well made family films and, sure enough, the third film, “Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Dog Days,” falls right...

It is really hard to care about a movie when it seems like everyone involved doesn't seem to particularly care about it either. Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Dog Days is the bottom of the barrel when it comes to kids' movies, relying on peeing-in-the-pool ...

This episode of the Wimpy Kid film franchise is based on a combination of wacky misadventures culled from both the third (“The Last Straw”) and fourth (“Dog Days”) books in the best-selling series created by Jeff Kinney.

THE first Diary of a Wimpy Kid movie, based on the books by Jeff Kinney, came as a pleasant surprise in 2010. There was something refreshing about the dagginess of the central character, and a welcome focus on an under-represented age group...

This third instalment was shot back-to-back with last year's second salvo Rodrick Rules, so no one involved is looking any older. Or behaving any wiser.

This much we know: Greg Heffley isn’t going to be as popular as Harry Potter. We hear you ask: Greg who? If the graphic novel series “Diary of a Wimpy Kid” doesn’t ring a bell with you, then Greg probably isn’t one character you may feel affection for.
